Full time schedule

Monday

tennis camp and
weekly programs

Our program has two unique training sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

The morning session includes two hours of stroke production and technique development. The focus of the afternoon session is point development and match play. The students will have one hour of on and off-court conditioning and weight training three times per week. Our method of two training sessions per day will allow the student to assimilate the instruction effectively.

Our high-performance Academy has a track record of helping players reach their potential. In addition to academy training, players will be given a chance to train with the best players and engage in match-play, conditioning, mental training, video analysis, and player analysis.

Key Mental Skills

Mental Resilience

Develop cognitive endurance to maintain a positive focus on goals despite challenges. This includes enhancing motivation, managing pressure effectively, building confidence, and improving concentration to overcome challenges and stay resilient during tough times.

Goal Setting

Learn to set clear, actionable goals that offer direction and motivation. Dr. Champion emphasizes creating realistic and achievable goals that boost athletes’ confidence and drive performance by focusing on objectives that will most effectively support optimal performance.

Positive Self-Talk

Master the art of controlling your internal dialogue to support peak performance. This involves staying realistic, focusing on what you can control, approaching challenges as opportunities for growth, and maintaining a focus on the process rather than outcomes. It’s also crucial to differentiate between performance and self-worth.

Mindfulness

Develop mindfulness to enhance overall performance. This practice involves being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, which aids in maintaining focus, reducing stress, and managing distractions. Mindfulness helps improve your ability to stay present and calm under pressure and in competitive situations.

Responding to Mistakes

Learn to view mistakes as valuable learning opportunities. Dr. Champion will help you develop strategies to handle errors constructively, allowing you to stay composed and perform consistently even when faced with setbacks.

Focus and Concentration:

Strengthen your ability to maintain focus on key tasks. This includes developing situational awareness, prioritizing effectively, and adjusting your attention as needed to stay engaged with important aspects of performance and overcome distractions.

Managing Competition

Managing competitive environments effectively is crucial. Develop pre-performance routines that enhance relaxation, mindfulness, focus, concentration, activation, and confidence, and create in-competition routines with physical or mental triggers for refocusing. Employ positive self-talk to boost motivation and confidence. Engage in mindfulness training to stay present, manage stress, and develop a laser focus on tasks to dissipate distractions.

FAQ

In addition to our Full-time Golf Academy, we offer Short-Time Programs (6 weeks or less), Holiday, Winter and Summer Camps.

Our full-time program follows the school calendar and goes from August to May.

Students practice with RPS Golf Academy coaches days week.

Students go to golf fitness training days week. Mach Speed Training is also included.

When you become a full- time golf academy student/athlete you’ll also become a junior member at the private Jack Nicklaus Santa Lucia River Club. SLRC is where all our on-course training happens.

All the golf practice facilities are located within the Sandpiper Bay Resort where the academy is located. The private Jack Nicklaus designed golf course at the Santa Lucia River Club is located within walking distance of the front gate of the resort and is where we do our on-course training.

The competition schedule really depends on each student’s development level, but in general it’s about 2 tournament per month.

Weekly camps consist of 3 hours of golf training in the morning followed by 9 holes of golf in the afternoon. Camp also includes 3 hours of golf fitness per week.

Check-in is on Sunday afternoon and check-out is Saturday morning.

Recruiting assistance is provided by RPS Golf Academy golf recruiting consultant Michael Smith from ForeCollegeGolf.  Their mission is to help junior golfers and their families as they navigate the college recruiting landscape.
